Blessings,
MONDAY ENCOURAGEMENT
This morning on my walk, I passed the cutest dog sitting behind a gate.
I had met the woman who walks him before, and she had told me how much she enjoys their walks together. As I passed by, he barely noticed me. He gave our dog a quick glance and immediately turned his attention back to the closed gate.
He was waiting.
He knew who he was waiting for, and he was watching with expectation.
I loved that simple little scene.
It immediately brought to mind a song that often brings tears to my eyes: Waiting Here for You.
“We come with expectation
Waiting here for you…”
There is something about the thought of waiting on God with expectation that always gets me.
So often, when I’m waiting on God, I’m waiting for something. An answer. Direction. Healing. Something broken to be restored. A prayer to be answered.
And yes, we can bring all those things to Him.
But this morning I found myself thinking about something more.
What if I’m simply waiting for Him?
Not for what He can give me or for what I want Him to change. Just wanting to walk with Him. To worship Him. To see more of who He is. To know Him better.
In Jeremiah 33:3, while Jeremiah was confined in the courtyard of the guard, God said:
“Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”
Jeremiah 33:3 (NIV)
I love the word unsearchable.
The original Hebrew conveys the idea of something inaccessible or beyond what we could discover on our own.
Think about that.
The God of the universe invites us to call to Him.
There are many things I do not know. So many things I don’t understand. Yet He invites me to open His Word, come to Him in prayer, and know Him more.
Through Jesus, we have been given something almost too wonderful to comprehend—a personal relationship with God.
He wants us to know Him.
So, this morning I’m asking myself:
What am I waiting for?
Am I waiting only for God to do something—or am I waiting for Him?
I want to open my Bible and pray.
Show me Your truth.
Show me Your Word.
Give me Your wisdom in the many things I do not know.
Waiting here for You.
Lord, thank You that we can call on You. Thank You for inviting us into relationship with You. Thank You for wanting us to know You. Thank You for Your Word. Let us worship You with our arms and hearts open wide. Waiting here for You!
Hugs and Blessings,
Rhonda
