Here He Comes…

“Sing to God, sing in praise of his name, extol him who rides on the clouds; rejoice before him—his name is the LORD.”
Psalm 68:4 (NIV)

I love this song! “ Days of Elijah” is one of my favorites, and every time I hear it, I think about the day Jesus will return.

When I took this picture, the sun broke through the clouds, and I immediately thought of the song. I could almost hear it playing. In fact, I’m still singing it in my head as I share this with you!

If you remember the song, you may already be singing along. And if you don’t, here’s a wonderful version to listen to.

Listen to Days of Elijah.

Can you imagine that day?

Scripture tells us in Revelation 1:7, “Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and that every eye will see Him.

It is hard for my mind to comprehend what that will look like, but what a joyous day it will be!

I think about loved ones who have gone before us and the reunion that awaits. I wonder about the beauty of heaven, what we will see, and what it will be like to spend eternity in His presence.

But most of all, I think about what it will be like to see Him face to face.

The One who created us. The One who knows everything about us and loves us. The One who gave His life so that we could have eternal life with Him.

I know sometimes we think about all the questions we will ask Jesus when we get to heaven. Questions about things we never understood or circumstances that didn’t make sense.

But I wonder. When we finally see Him face to face, will any of those questions even come to mind?

I think maybe we will be speechless.

First Corinthians 13:12 reminds us that now we see only a reflection, but one day we will see face to face. What we know now is only in part, but one day we will know more fully.

I don’t know what that first moment will be like. But the thought of seeing Jesus is almost more than my mind can comprehend.

The One we are waiting to see face to face is the same One who invites us to know Him today.

Here He comes…

What a day that will be!
