A Season for Everything

MONDAY ENCOURAGEMENT

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV)

Looking at this beautiful tree, full of the many colors of fall, reminds us of the changing seasons. My thoughts drift to how anyone could look at something so beautiful and not see the hand of God, who not only created the seasons but also gives us signs that are stunning to the eye, along with the reminder that change is inevitable.

God’s Word tells us that there is a season for everything and for every activity. The changing tree, which will eventually lose these beautiful leaves only to return with green leaves in the promise of spring, reminds us to embrace the season in every situation in our lives. In laughter and tears. And in joy and pain, God always has something beautiful and good to show us—a reminder that He is there.

A new adventure or a new career. The first years of marriage, learning not only to love but to appreciate the differences. Or perhaps a new baby, with all those sweet smells and the sleepless nights!

Or maybe you’re in the trenches of a hard situation, begging God for change and feeling as if things are hopeless.

Perhaps you’re helping aging parents, making decisions for those who can no longer make decisions for themselves. Or maybe you’re enjoying the season of being a grandparent, with all the spoiling and fun, and then sending those precious grandchildren home to parents who are tired from parenting!

And maybe you feel as if you’re in a later season of life, a bit tired yourself, and your health is waning.

Whatever the season, God has blessings for you. In every season, He has beauty. It is just who He is.

“Be where your feet are” is one of the sweetest phrases I’ve heard while caring for aging parents. There were moments when I knew that sitting right there, loving, appreciating, and looking beyond myself and my list of to-dos was far more important in that season. Because in my heart, I knew that season was shorter than my heart was ready for. And now, when I look back on the many seasons of life, I realize that I didn’t always stop to think about how quickly they would go by.

What beauty is in your season right now?

What season are you in? Look around at where God has you. Ask Him to show you those sweet and tender moments. Ask Him not only to show you how to bless others in your season but also to reveal His blessings for the season you are in.

Have a blessed Monday!
